“Thanks to our new virtual try-on tool on Search, you can see whether a piece is right for you before you buy it,” the tech giant said in a blog post on Wednesday.

“Our new generative AI model can take just one clothing image and accurately reflect how it would drape, fold, cling, stretch, and form wrinkles and shadows on a diverse set of real models in various poses.”

Users can select people ranging in sizes XXS-4XL representing different skin tones, body shapes, ethnicities, and hair types. The US shoppers can now virtually try on women’s tops from brands across Google, including Anthropologie, Everlane, H&M, and LOFT.

To access the feature, users can tap products with the “Try On” badge on Search and select the model that resonates most with them.

The tech giant also announced that US shoppers can now refine products using inputs like colour, style, and pattern, thanks to machine learning and new visual matching algorithms.

“And unlike shopping in a store, you’re not limited to one retailer: You’ll see options from stores across the web. You can find this feature, available for tops to start, right within product listings,” it added.

Kuo highlights the importance that investors have on AI developments by speculating that suppliers’ income and profits from Apple’s headgear may not increase significantly over the course of the next two years.

Investors, according to Kuo, believe that in the next two years, the headset “May not be a substantial revenue and profit contributor” for suppliers.

The success of Apple’s unveiling, in the opinion of investors, “will immensely impact 3D interaction design and 3D computer graphics.” If Apple enters the AR/VR wearable market, it will probably start a completely new market sector based on its past performance.

The Touch Bar and Mini-sized iPhones were two recent breakthroughs from Apple, but they weren’t as successful as expected.

Since programmes like ChatGPT and Midjourney become widely available, the term “AI-generated content” has become popular. Google and Microsoft have also entered the industry. Google only recently began to make its text-to-image tool connected with Google Slides available.

Kuo claims that “investors believe it will help continue the current AI investment sentiment” if Apple introduces its AIGC service at WWDC. Apple might also produce something robust enough to spur interest in brand-new hardware.

The mixed-reality headset should fit in there. It might be Apple’s strategy for fusing 3D design, augmented reality, and AI. Last but not least, according to Kuo, if the Apple XR headset launch is a success, the business and its suppliers may gain from its combination with sales of the Watch, Mac, and iPhone.

Last month, the Artifact news app launched a new feature which let users flag articles they think are clickbait. Now, the app makers said that if a user marks a title as clickbait, the app calls on a GPT-4 model to rewrite the headline, reports TechCrunch.

During the launch of the clickbait flagging feature, the company stated that it uses a manual process to vet articles and mark them as clickbait after multiple users report them.

If an article is flagged as clickbait by the Artifact team, AI will rewrite the headline for all users. A star icon will appear next to the headline to indicate that AI has rewritten it, the report said. In addition, the startup is developing technology to detect clickbait articles without relying on manual reporting.

According to the company, the app will automatically detect and rewrite headlines once that system is in place, the report said. Meanwhile, the company also launched other features, such as the ability to react to an article and share articles as images.

The ability to react to an article will let users add an emoji reaction to any article to express how they feel about it. With the share article as an image, users will be able to share a visual of an article so friends can quickly see what an article is about.

According to the company, precise location helps Bard provide more relevant responses about restaurants near you and many other things about your area.

For instance, if you ask Bard “What are the best restaurants near me?”, it will now be able to show you a list of restaurants that are actually located near your current location.

Precise location support is a new feature that is currently in beta testing. Last month, Google released a new update, Bard, improving the ability to provide summaries of information and tell users where that information has come from.

With the new update, users will be able to ask Bard to summarise a specific article or story or to provide a quick explanation of a topic without going into too much detail.

Meanwhile, Google has removed the waiting list and opened the AI chatbot to over 180 countries and territories, including India, after initially rolling out Bard in the UK and the US.

Apart from English, Bard is now available in Japanese and Korean, and the company said it`s on track to support 40 languages soon.

Regulators around the world are scrambling to draw up rules governing the use of generative artificial intelligence (AI), which can create text and images, the impact of which proponents compare to the arrival of the internet.

While Japan has been on the back foot with some recent technology trends, it is seen as having the greater incentive to keep pace with advances in AI and robotics to maintain productivity as its population shrinks.

The watchdog noted the need to balance privacy concerns with the potential benefits of generative AI including in accelerating innovation and dealing with problems such as climate change.

Japan is the third-largest source of traffic to OpenAI’s website, according to analytics firm Similarweb.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman in April met Prime Minister Fumio Kishida with an eye to expansion in Japan, ahead of the Group of Seven (G7) leaders summit where Kishida led a discussion on regulating AI.

The EU, a global trendsetter on tech regulation, is working on what could be the first set of rules to govern AI. Altman last week said OpenAI had no plans to leave Europe after earlier suggesting the startup might do so if EU regulations were too difficult to comply with.

Using large language models (LLM) like GPT-4, that powers ChatGPT, in data analysis costs less than 1 per cent of hiring a human analyst while turning in comparable performances, according to researchers from Damo Academy, the research arm of Chinese e-commerce giant Alibaba Group, and Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University.

The study highlights the potential threat to job security amid increased adoption of generative artificial intelligence (AI), reports South China Morning Post.

The experiments showed that GPT-4 is also much faster than humans in completing the tasks.

“GPT-4 can also beat an entry-level human analyst in terms of performance, which was evaluated through a range of metrics including the correctness and fluency in charts and the insights they produced,” the report elaborated.

In some cases, the AI model managed to surpass the human data analysts in terms of the correctness of the figures and analysis.

“However, GPT-4 fell behind humans in terms of showing correct data in graphs, as well as presentation and formatting in some cases,” the results showed.

Despite errors with some figures, GPT-4 could still generate correct analysis, the study added.

According to global investment bank Goldman Sachs, nearly 300 million jobs could be lost to AI in the future.

A global economics research report from Goldman Sachs predicted that AI could automate 25 per cent of the entire labour market but can automate 46 per cent of tasks in administrative jobs, 44 per cent of legal jobs, and 37 per cent of architecture and engineering professions.

With this feature, Google intends to bring the power of its AI chatbot Bard to its messaging app, boosting users texting efforts, reports Android Police. According to Google’s support page, Magic Compose appears to be limited to RCS conversations in the Messages app.

Users who have access to this feature will need to enable it from the app’s Settings menu. By tapping the pencil icon next to typed text, users will be able to use Magic Compose’s suggestions to start a chat or rewrite their message in different tones and styles.

Magic Compose currently supports seven styles — Remix, Excited, Chill, Shakespeare, Lyrical, Formal, and Short. However, the feature comes with a significant cation as it will send up to “20 previous messages” to Google’s servers in order to generate suggestions even if you use RCS with end-to-end encryption (E2EE).

These messages are then discarded, with Google not storing any data or using it for training its AI models. “Up to 20 previous messages, including emojis, reactions, and URLs, are sent to Google’s servers and only used to make suggestions relevant to your conversation,” Google mentioned.
