India beat West Indies by 5 wickets in first ODI to start the three-match series on a positive note. However, the Indian fans were left frustrated by the quality of cricket on offer as well as the margin of victory. Chasing just 115 runs to win the match, India completed the task in 22.5 overs. But they ended up losing five wickets. India captain Rohit Sharma demoted himself to number 7 while Virat Kohli did not even get a chance to bat as management wanted to give the likes of Ishan Kishan, Shubman Gill and Suryakumar Yadav the opportunity to have more balls in the middle.

The decision backfired as India lost five wickets while chasing 115. Kishan scored a fifty before he departed. But Gill had a poor outing with the score of 7 off 16 balls. Suryakumar Yadav, batting at No 3, showed glimpses of brilliance as he scored 19 off 25 balsl that included 3 fours and 1 six but perished soo. Hardik Pandya was run out for just 5 while Shardul Thakur scored 1 off 4 balls. In the end, Ravindra Jadeja (16 off 21) and Rohit (12 off 19) guided India to a win.

The fans were upset for several reasons. Firstly, there was Sanju Samson missing in the playing XI. He averages 66 in ODIs yet was not considered for selection as fans alleged that Samson is a victim of ‘politics’ and ‘favouritism’ in Indian team. Secondly, India did not close out the match in a dominant way, losing five wickets by changing the batting order. Thirdly, it turned out to be a boring match for the spectators.

Some suggested that BCCI could earn more viewers and give better practice to Men in Blue by playing and inter-squad game. One Twitter user even suggested that BCCI should have played a Team Rohit vs Team Virat contest to prepare for the big tournaments ahead as Windies dispalyed poor cricket.

There is a big hype in India and Pakistan for the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 match between the two countries, which was to be played on Octoner 15 in Ahmedabad. However, there is going to be some changes made to the schedule of the World Cup due to various reasons. Three Intenational Cricket Council (ICC) board members have written to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over the change in schedule. BCCI secretary Jay Shah, on Thursday after meeting with the head of the state associations who are hostign World Cup matches, took the big decision. Shah said that there will be some slight changes in the schedule and the updated version will be out in two to three days.

Which matches are to be rescheduled?

Jay Shah did not mention about this while speaking to the reporters about the change in schedule. Which matches have been rescheduled will be known only when the updated plan is out. The BCCI secretary also refused to speak which were the three cricket board who had some sort of objection to the schedule and whether one of the boards was Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

PCB had, earlier, shown reservations on playing India at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad. Pakistan are playing World Cup matches only at five venues including Hyderabad, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru and Kolkata. One of the semi-finals will be played in Mumbai. However, if that particular final will be between India and Pakistan then the venue will shift to Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Is there a change in schedule of India vs Pakistan match in ODI World Cup?

The answer is both, yes and no. Jay Shah said that the only the dates of some matches clash will be changed, not venues. A report had emerged that security agencies had requested BCCI to make changes in the schedule of this marquee contest. IND vs PAK is to be played in Ahmedabad on October 15. This will also be the first day of Navratri, an Indian festival, which is quite a big occasion in Gujarat. While speaking on the possible change in IND vs PAK schedule, Shah said that venue is going to remain Ahmedabad.

The fans who have booked their flight tickets and hotels for October 15 could be in a problem, if the dates are changed. With the date change, they would need to cancel the bookings and this move could end up burning a hole in thei pockets. But one has to first see how BCCI manages this situation, whether the board will bail fans out of it.

By the year 2020, seeing the situation getting worse in India, a lockdown had to be imposed. After this, the efforts to make vaccine started and many countries discovered the vaccine of this disease. However, by 2021, people started being vaccinated in India as well. However, along with this, a sudden increase in heart attack cases was also observed.

By April 2021, when Corona took a dangerous form in India, vaccination had already started for the common people. During this period, many people died across the country. Some died due to corona virus while some died due to heart attack and other diseases. After this, questions started arising that due to the vaccine made to stop the corona virus, the risk of heart attack has increased in people.

ICMR is doing a study on these allegations. The initial report of this study will be published in July 2023. In this study, ICMR is trying to understand the link between Covid-19 vaccination and increasing heart attacks in the young population in India.

The report will be made public only after reaching a strong result.

The preliminary report of this study is pending for some time. Before publishing it, ICMR is reviewing the findings revealed so far. ICMR is doing a very thorough study regarding this report. So it is an effort to make its figures public only when they are completely confirmed.

ICMR engaged in the search of these questions

ICMR is studying some questions to investigate the sudden increase in heart attacks and their relation with Kovid-19 vaccination. These are the questions…

1. Have people died of natural causes after vaccination?

2. Was the vaccine made to stop Kovid responsible for the death?

3. Was the patient who lost his life in a critical stage of Covid or was he suffering from it for a long time?

Data collected from 40 hospitals

As a sample size for this study, ICMR has taken information about clinical registration from 40 hospitals. The data of many of these patients has also been taken from AIIMS. According to the information, 600 deaths were reported from the sample size of 14,000 people.

The health minister had accepted this

Let us inform that in the month of March, Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya was speaking at the summit of a channel. During this, he admitted that there has been an increase in the number of deaths due to heart attack after Corona. Then he said that it has been discussed and ICMR is studying in this matter.

Delay in reporting

Mandaviya had said, we have the statistics of vaccination. He told that ICMR is studying this issue for the last 3-4 months on some questions. By the way, its report was to come in 6 months. But now it is believed that the report of this study will be made public in the month of July.

The 75-year-old former journalist and current cricket administrator, who assumed the role of interim chairman in 2022 following Ramiz Raja’s resignation, made the announcement on Twitter.

In his tweet, Sethi expressed his desire to avoid becoming a source of conflict between Asif Zardari and Shehbaz Sharif, stating that the instability and uncertainty resulting from their rivalry would be detrimental to the PCB.

“Salaam everyone! I don’t want to be a bone of contention between Asif Zardari and Shehbaz Sharif. Such instability and uncertainty are not good for PCB. Under the circumstances, I am not a candidate for the Chairmanship of PCB. Good luck to all stakeholders,” he tweeted.

According to reports, Sethi and Zaka Ashraf, who has recently gained support for his potential return, have a history of competing for leadership within the Pakistan Cricket Board. In 2013 and 2014, they engaged in a lengthy legal battle over the position.

Rotterdam: Spain’s 11-year trophy drought is over. Croatia and their veteran captain Luka Modric are still waiting for their first international title. Goalkeeper Unai Simon saved two shots as Spain beat Croatia in a penalty shootout after their tense Nations League final had finished 0-0 on Sunday.

The Bilbao goalkeeper used his feet to save a penalty by Lovro Majer when the shootout was level at 3-3 and then dived full-length to tip Bruno Petković’s spot kick around the post. Dani Carvajal converted his penalty — with a “Panenka” chip — to seal the victory.

Spain coach Luis De La Fuente said Carvajal had taken penalties well in practice ahead of the final. “He has a fantastic personality and that’s the way he decided to take it,” he said. “We have total confidence in his ability to take penalties.”

Spain’s other previous titles came in the 2010 World Cup and the European Championships in 1964, 2008 and 2012. Midfielder Rodri, who punched the air after scoring his penalty, has four titles this season after also winning a historic treble with his club, Manchester City. He was named the player of the Nations League tournament to cap his memorable year.

Spain did not manage a shot on target until the 84th minute of the match and when substitute Ansu Fati finally looked like breaking the stalemate, Ivan Perišić was on the goal line to block his effort. It was Spain’s only goal-bound attempt, compared to five by Croatia. In the first period of extra time, Majer broke through and fell in the penalty area under a challenge by Nacho, but German referee Felix Zwayer ruled that the Spain defender had played the ball and waved off Croatia’s appeals for a penalty.

“I think it makes the win even more epic doing it this way,” De La Fuente said.

Croatia’s fans – many wearing shirts with Modric’s name and No. 10 on the back — far outnumbered their Spanish counterparts at De Kuip stadium in Rotterdam. But they were forced to leave disappointed as their nation and the 37-year-old Modric continued their wait for a first international title.

Croatia finished second at the World Cup in 2018 and third in Qatar last year. Modric, meanwhile, has won the Champions League five times with Real Madrid and was named FIFA’s world player of the year in 2018, breaking the decade-long dominance of Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo on the title. But he has not been able to cap his glittering career with international honors.

Whether he will have another try at next year’s European Championships remains to be seen. “I’d love Luka to stay,” Croatia coach Zlatko Dalic said. “He’s a very important player for us.”

De La Fuente agreed. “I hope he carries on because we never want great players to leave the game,” he said.

Spain went a step better than the last Nations League final in 2021, when it lost to France. Not bad for a team with a coach, Luis De La Fuente, who only took charge after the World Cup in Qatar and came in for criticism when his team lost 2-0 to Scotland in European Championship qualifying.

Spain’s players went to a small section of their fans in one corner of the stadium to celebrate their victory. Both sides came close in the first half.

Croatia goalkeeper Dominik Livaković fumbled an innocuous shot by Fabián Ruiz and the ball bounced off the post in the ninth minute, but Livaković recovered quickly to block an attempt by Álvaro Morata, who was flagged offside. Three minutes later, Gavi dragged a shot just wide.

But after weathering the early storm, Croatia — with Modric directing the action from midfield — then created the best chances. Twice, Modric curled crosses to find Ivan Perišić at the far post but both times Simon in the Spain goal saved. But he saved his two best saves for the penalty shootout.

Italy Third — Again

Federico Dimarco scored in the sixth minute and Davide Frattesi poked home a rebound to double the lead in the 20th to put Italy on course to beating the Netherlands 3-2 to secure third place in the Nations League for the second time in two attempts. Steven Bergwijn put the Netherlands back in contention in the 68th minute only for Federico Chiesa to restore the Azzurri’s two-goal lead four minutes later. Substitute Georginio Wijnaldum completed the scoring with one minute of regulation time to go as Italy held on.

The defeat in Enschede meant that Ronald Koeman’s team conceded seven goals in two matches as hosts of the Nations League final four, after losing 4-2 to Croatia after extra time on Wednesday. Spain beat Italy 2-1 to set up the final.

Bremen: Kai Havertz helped Germany salvage a 3-3 draw with Ukraine in a charity friendly that left neither team happy from a sporting perspective on Monday. Viktor Tsyhankov had scored twice for Ukraine to come from behind and lead 3-1 in Serhiy Rebrov ’s debut as coach, putting his team on course for the country’s first ever win over Germany.

But Havertz pulled one back in the 83rd and was then fouled for a penalty that Joshua Kimmich converted in stoppage time for the equalizer. The German football federation was donating the proceeds to victims of Russia’s war in Ukraine. The match was also billed as the federation’s 1,000th, but the team’s performance will do little to restore battered German confidence a year before the country hosts the European Championship.

The buildup was overshadowed by the war in Ukraine with both teams taking to the field accompanied by children who had fled their country to escape the invasion. Every visiting player was draped in a Ukrainian flag. The teams posed for individual photos — with Ukraine’s in front of another giant blue-and-yellow flag — before German and Ukrainian players posed for a mixed photo behind a banner with the word “peace.”

The German players also had a peace symbol on the arms of their jerseys. Niclas Füllkrug, playing in his home stadium, was gifted a huge chance by Mykhailo Mudryk in the second minute but the Werder Bremen forward missed with only the goalkeeper to beat.

Füllkrug was credited with the opening goal in the sixth when he deflected Marius Wolf’s shot past Anatoliy Trubin in the visitors’ goal. Germany missed further good chances against the disorganized visitors before Tsyhankov equalized on a counterattack in the 19th.

Mudryk forced an own goal from Antonio Rüdiger four minutes later to make it 2-1, delighting the visiting supporters. The Ukrainian ambassador to Germany, Oleksii Makeiev, celebrated with restraint beside German president Frank-Walter Steinmeier, who smiled and held out his hand to congratulate him.

Buoyed by the goals, Ukraine pushed for more before the home team recovered. But it was a typical display of late from Germany — seemingly in control, creating chances, yet still prone to costly mistakes.

Coach Hansi Flick reacted by bringing on Havertz and Lukas Klostermann for the second half, but little changed. Artem Dovbyk capitalized on another mistake to set up Tsyhankov for the third goal in the 56th.

Further German mistakes led to whistles from some in the crowd. They were finally given reason to cheer when Rüdiger sent a long ball forward for Havertz to score.

While David Beckham is the public face of Inter Miami as a co-owner, he’s not the only member of the ownership group. Jorge Mas is the club’s CEO and managing owner.
